Own a genuine piece of sewing history. The Singer 222K Featherweight is one of the most sought-after portable sewing machines ever made. It was built in Singer's Kilbowie factory in Clydebank, Scotland, between 1953 and 1961. Only around 110,000 were produced, so it's far rarer than its better-known sibling, the Singer 221. Collectors, quilters and sewists all prize it for its smooth, precise straight stitch.

- Free-arm capability: Unlike the 221, the 222K has a removable bed extension held on by a thumbscrew. Take it off and you have a compact free arm, perfect for cuffs, sleeves and trouser hems.
- Drop-feed lever: A handy front lever lowers the feed dogs for free-motion darning, embroidery and quilting.
- Lightweight and portable: The aluminium body keeps the machine itself to about 5.4 kg (12 lb). It's easy to carry to classes, retreats and quilting groups.
- Australian-friendly power: The 222K was made with a 230–240V motor, so it suits Australian power.
- Rare and collectable: Its limited production run makes it scarcer, and generally more valuable, than the standard 221 Featherweight.
Condition
This preloved 222K is in excellent condition, a beautifully kept example of a machine that's now more than 60 years old. Some original parts, such as the unique needle plate, are no longer made. That makes a 222K in this condition a genuinely special find.
